The Internet of Things

The 'Internet of Things' is composed of all of the devices in our lives that are connected to the internet. I'm hoping that we can explore this world a little bit in the PIT with our new Spark Core. It's a little (but powerful) computer that can be programmed and has multiple inputs/outputs to which we can connect buttons, sensors, motors, lights...pretty much anything you can think of.

The page 'About the PIT Spark Core' has some useful links to help you get started. Take some time to explore. If you want to borrow the Spark Core so you can play at home, please let me know; I will be happy to play with it if nobody else wants to, and I promise to have the chocolate dispenser working before September. :)

Happy hacking.

P.S. If anyone wants to learn more about coding, I just started a MOOC (along with my husband and the 'Inventor's Group' at his high school). If you're looking for a summer project, you can start any time (it is self-paced and does not require coding background).
